Salted Brown Sugar Peanut Brittle...a love story.
With a few notable exceptions, my stylish paternal grandmother, Annie Mae, wasn't a particularly gifted cook. Her holiday peanut brittle was notoriously dangerous, and could not be chewed without risking injury. I've never seen Annie Mae's recipe, but I'm guessing it didn't involve baking soda, which creates the air bubble needed to prevent dental emergencies. Each time I make this crunchy sweet brown sugar brittle, I'm reminded of my beautiful grandmother, how very much I loved her, and her aptitude for fashion over cooking.
